Surah Yasin (Ya-Seen)

The Heart of the Quran

Chapter 36
Verses 83 Ayat
Place Mecca

Surah Yasin is often referred to as "the Heart of the Quran" due to its profound message and central position in the scripture. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Yasin."

This powerful Meccan surah emphasizes the truth of revelation, the resurrection, and divine judgment. It contains warnings for those who reject the truth and glad tidings for the believers. The surah begins with the mysterious letters "Ya-Seen" and presents arguments for Allah's Oneness through the signs in creation.

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
36:1-2
Yaaseen. Wal-Quraanil-Hakeem
Ya-Seen. By the wise Quran
36:3-4
Innaka laminal-mursaleen. 'Ala siratim-mustaqeem
Indeed you are from among the messengers. On a straight path
36:5
Tanzeelal-'Azeezir-Raheem
A revelation of the Almighty, the Merciful
36:12
Inna nahnu nuhyil-mawtaa wa naktubu ma qaddamoo wa aasarahum. Wa kulla shay'in ahsaynaahu fee imaamin-mubeen
Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they sent ahead and their traces. And all things We have enumerated in a clear register
36:22-23
Wa maliya laa a'budul-lazee fataranee wa ilayhi turja'oon. A-attakhizu min doonihi aalihatan. In yuridnir-Rahmanu bi durrin laa tunghir 'annee shafaa'atuhum shay'an wa laa yunqithoon
And why should I not worship He who created me, and to Him you will be returned? Should I take other than Him gods? If the Most Merciful intends for me adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor will they save me
36:30-31
Ya hasratan 'alal-'ibaad. Ma yateehim min rasoolin illa kaanoo bihi yastahzi'oon
Oh, the regret for the servants! No messenger comes to them except they ridicule him
36:33-35
Wa aayatul-lahumul-ardul-maytu ahyaanaahaa wa akhrajna minha habban fa minhu yakuloon. Wa ja'alna feeha jannaatin min nakheelin wa a'naabin wa fajjarna feehal-'uyoon. Li yakuloo min thamarihi wa ma 'amilathu aydeehim. Afala yashkuroon
And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused springs to gush forth therein. That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not made it. So will they not be grateful?
36:36
Glory to Him who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know
36:38-40
Wash-shamsu tajree limustaqarril-laha. Zalika taqdeerul-'Azeezil-'Aleem. Wal-qamara qaddarnaahu manaazila hatta 'aada kal'urjoonil-qadeem. Lash-shamsu yambaghee laha an tudrikal-qamara wa lallaylu saabiqun-nahaar. Wa kullun fee falakin yasbaheen
And the sun runs toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns like an old date-stalk. It is not permitted for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outrun the day. All are orbiting in a cosmos
36:51
Wa nufikha fiss-soor fa-iza hum minal-ajdaathi ila Rabbihim yansiloon
And the Horn will be blown, and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten
36:60-62
Alam a'had ilaykum ya banee A dam an laa ta'budush-shaytaan. Innahu lakum 'aduwwon-mubeen. Wa ani u'budoon. Hadha siratun-mustaqeem. Wa laqad adalla minkum jibillan katheeran. Afalam takoonoo ta'qiloon
Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan? Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. And that you worship Me? This is a straight path. And he had already led astray among you much of creation. So did you not use reason?
36:65
Al-yawma nakhimu 'alaa afwaahihim wa tukallimuna aydeehim wa tashhadu arjuluhum bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon
Today We will seal their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn
36:69-70
Wa ma 'allamnaahush-shi'ra wa ma yambaghee lah. Inn huwa illa dhikrun wa Qur'aanun-mubeen. Li yunzira man kaana hayyayan wa yahaqqal-qawlu 'alal-kafireen
And We did not teach him poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is only a reminder and a clear Quran. To warn whoever is alive and justify the word against the disbelievers
36:82
Innama amruhu izaa arada shayan an yaqoola lahoo kun fayakoon
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is
36:83
